How to Receive a Massage:
- Alert us of any relevant medical condition when booking the appointment. Certain conditions require special equipment or extra time.
- Stay home if you’re sick. It’s bad for you to receive a massage when you have a fever. Just remember to call and let us know you can’t make it.
- Don’t waste your makeup. It’s all going to get smeared off anyway.
- Arrive a few minutes early for your first appointment. That will allow you time to fill out a medical-history form.
- Please speak softly while in the lobby.
- Remove all jewelry. You might even want to leave it at home—you could become so relaxed that you forget to put it back on.
- Clothing is optional. Remove as much or as little as you’re comfortable with. In any case, at no point will you be more exposed than you’d be on a public beach in Evanston. Understand that disrobing at least to the undergarments will facilitate your massage--your therapist will deal with only your skin and tissue and not have to worry about getting oil on your clothes.
- Get covered. Climb onto the table between—not on top of—the sheets.
- Think of a wet noodle. Let yourself go limp when the therapist tries to move your limbs; don’t help.
- Speak up! We’re good, but we’re not psychic. The more feedback you provide, the better your massage will be. If there’s anything you’d like different—a change in music, pressure, or temperature—just ask.
- Don’t forget to breathe. To facilitate relaxation, try to breathe deeply and slowly.
